Science & Safety

What we rely on, and what we don't promise

We explain four topics separately: the laboratory, the technology, scientific evaluation and data security. Each technical term comes with a plain-language explanation.

LABORATORY
Laboratory and quality

The analysis is carried out in a genetic diagnostic laboratory licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health (T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı).

TECHNOLOGY
Microarray and the analysis process

Genotyping is performed with an mPCR-augmented Axiom DNA microarray.

SCIENTIFIC ASSESSMENT
Evidence level and sources

Findings are linked to PubMed, GWAS Catalog and ClinVar records.

DATA SECURITY
KVKK, encryption and deletion

Data is encrypted and access is controlled. Deletion requests are fulfilled within 30 days of the date they reach us. (KVKK is Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698.)

Who holds the laboratory certifications?

The analysis is carried out at a genetic diagnostic laboratory licensed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey; the license and quality certificates belong to that laboratory. Hub Genetik is responsible for sample logistics, scientific evaluation of the findings, reporting and consultation. For laboratory and accreditation information, please see the Laboratory Accreditation page.

Limits of the report

The report does not make a medical diagnosis, does not determine medications or doses, and does not predict disease. A microarray does not sequence the entire genome; it reads only selected variants. Some of the reported variants are read directly on the chip, while others are statistically estimated using a reference panel (imputation); the reliability of estimated genotypes is lower than that of directly read ones. Findings that may be clinically significant require a verification test.

Evidence levels

Each finding is assigned a strong, moderate or limited evidence level. Findings with limited evidence are flagged in the report, and the wording of recommendations is softened accordingly.

Frequently asked questions about the science
